Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter in honor of her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors and editors. Ryder's parents are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria, and has half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder and her family moved to Mendocino, California at the age of seven. Ryder was just seven. The family was in a house that didn't have electric power. Ryder was a voracious book reader because there was no television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. At the age of 15, Ryder landed her first acting job onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder faced bullying during her teenage years. Her performing career, she thought, would help her. It didn't turn out. However, she was determined to pursue her goals. It was 1988 in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that was her breakthrough. Ryder went on to have successful roles. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated for Academy Awards. One of them for her role in The Age of Innocence.
